Utica - Mrs. Winifred C. Sullivan Hafford, 82, of 2535 Genesee St., passed away Friday, December 24, 2010 in St. Joseph's Nursing Home. Winifred was born in Brooklyn on January 5, 1928, the daughter of the late Thomas F. and Winifred Leahy Sullivan. She attended and graduated from Bishop McDonnel Memorial High School with the class of 1946. She later attended St. John's University. She was united in marriage to Daniel J. Sullivan on August 21, 1948 in St. Teresa's Church, Brooklyn. Daniel passed away on February 3, 1967. She was later married to John Hafford in January of 1970 in Brooklyn. Mr. Hafford passed away in July of 1980. Winifred was an Elementary School Teacher for St. Jerome's School, Brooklyn, until her retirement in 1993 after 32 years of dedicated service. She is survived by two sons and daughters in law, Daniel R. and his wife, Teresa Sullivan of Richfield Springs and Thomas F. and his wife, Marivic Sullivan of Danville, CA; her beloved grandchildren, Peter D. Sullivan, Daniel A. Sullivan, Samuel S. Rosner, Stephen C. Sullivan, Thomas Sullivan and Maryanne Sullivan; and her goddaughter and niece, Christine Kelly and several cousins. She was predeceased by her sister, Joan Kelly in 1982. Her funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 in the Chapel at St Joseph's Nursing Home, 2535 Genesee St., Utica where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. David Sambor. Spring interment will be in Millers Mills Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 at the chapel. Winifred's family has entrusted her funeral arrangements to the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer.
