Mr. William L. Wheeler

Marcy – Mr. William L. Wheeler, 71, of Marcy, passed away, Thursday, September 13, 2018 in St. Luke’s Home.

He was born in Cold Brook on May 28, 1947, the son of the late Dwayne and Alice Kane Wheeler. He attended schools there and later attended Boyd’s Trade School. Bill served during the Vietnam War in the Army and was Honorably Discharged on September 16, 1968 with the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart for wounds received on May 19, 1968. He was at one time married to Cynthia Ann Wheeler. William was an Inspector for Iroquois Gas Co. in Utica for many years. He was a Communicant of Historic St. John’s Church, Utica and a member of the Pipe Fitters Union.

Bill is survived by two sons and one daughter in law, William M. and his wife, Domanique Wheeler of Utica and Jason Wheeler of Schuyler; two daughters, Andrea Wheeler and her fiancé, Wayne Grower of Remsen and Heather Wheeler of Floyd; eight grandchildren, Michael Wheeler, Alessia Wheeler, Tommy Wheeler, Alex Wheeler, Brett Wheeler, Ryan Wheeler, Alexis Wheeler and Ashton Grower; three brothers, David Wheeler and Thomas Christman, both of Utica and Robert Wheeler of NC; one sister, Jane Wheeler of Utica and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one sister, Carol Taylor.

His funeral will be held Monday morning at 9:30 in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Ave., Frankfort with the Rev. John Buehler, officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Norway. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4-6 PM at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Avenue, Frankfort.
