Mr. William Bius
Herkimer - Mr. William Bius, 92, of 315 Marion St passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2006 in Mohawk Valley Nursing Home.
He was born in Perth Amboy, NJ on November 3, 1914, the son of the late Theodore and the late Mary Demczar Bius. He attended Herkimer schools and graduated from Herkimer High School. He served during World War II with the US Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater. He was stationed in Guam and attended Cornell University for intense Military Training and later was assigned to Military Intelligence. He was Honorably Discharged on December 18,1945 with the rank of Corporal. Mr. Bius was a Model Tool Maker for Remington Rand and later for Univac Ilion & Utica Plants until his retirement on January 7, 1977 after 40 years of dedicated service. He was a member of S.S. Peter And Paul Orthodox Church and a life member of the Veterans Of Foreign Wars Post #4915.
William is survived by one sister, Helen Houley of Scotia, NY; one sister in law, Margaret Bius of Va. and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother, Steve Pap Bius and four sisters, Rose Choback, Julia Bius, Anna Tymoczko and Olga Barna.
His funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 12:30 pm from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 1:00 pm in S.S. Peter And Paul Orthodox Church with Rev. Fr. Seraphim Majmudar, officiating. Interment will be in SS Peter and Paul Orthodox Cemetery with full Military Honors. Calling Hours will be Sunday from 2-6 pm at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home. Parastas will be held Sunday evening at 5:30 at the funeral home for services with Father Majmudar, officiating.
Members of the VFW will meet Sunday afternoon at 4:30 at the funeral home for services.
