Frankfort - Mrs. Vivian R. Sgroi, 63, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 10, 2009 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center.
She was born in Ilion on November 18, 1945, the daughter of the late Joseph and Harriet Wright Spine Sr. She attended Frankfort schools and graduated from Frankfort-Schuyler High School. She was married to James Sgroi on January 5, 1984 in St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. Mrs. Sgroi was the owner and operator of Shear Edge in Frankfort for many years. She was a member of Mt. Zion Ministries.
Vivian is survived by her husband, James Sgroi; two daughters, Lisa Balzano of Utica, and Michelle Balzano of Baldwinsville; two brothers, Joseph Spine and his fiancé Lenora Fava of Utica, and Nicholas Spine and his fiancé, Barbara Johnson of Frankfort; her beloved canine, Noah and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one brother, PFC Michael Spine on July 30, 1968 and one sister in law, Alvira Spine on November 21, 1985.
Her funeral will be held at the convenience of the family from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort with the Reverend Michael Hughes, officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours. Vivian's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to her cousins, Donna and Diana, her angels from heaven for their wonderful care and kindness shown to her. They would also like to extend their appreciation to Dr. Stephen Graziano and staff at SUNY Upstate, Dr. Dang and staff and the wonderful and caring Oncology nurses of St. Elizabeth's Medical Center for their wonderful acts of compassion shown to her during her illness and passing.
