Ilion – Mr. Vito Papa Jr, 83, of Ilion passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018 in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born in Frankfort on December 10, 1934, the son of the late Vito and Angelina Cacciatore Papa Sr. and he attended Frankfort schools. He was married to Laura Moore on February 22, 1969 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Herkimer. Laura passed away on September 11, 2017. As a young man he worked on the family dairy farm and was a truck driver picking up and delivering bulk milk throughout the area. He was a heavy equipment operator for Accattato Construction Co., Frankfort for many years. He was employed in the Powder Metal Department of Remington Arms and later at Vic's Lithograph, New York Mills until his retirement in 2000.  He was a member of Morning Star Ministry. He enjoyed spending time with morning coffee friends, his vegetable garden and loved his Ford truck.

Junior is survived by four daughters and one son in law, Pamela Davine, Lisa and her husband, Merrill Holtz, Rachel Papa and her fiancé, Nelson Vanavery and Rebecca Slawson, all of Ilion; one son and daughter in law, David and Pam Papa of Rochester, NY; his cherished grandchildren, Kari Holtz, Steven J. Neale and Gabriel Slawson; one great grandson, Travis Wiegand and several grandchildren and great grandchildren; his in laws, Jean Papa of Frankfort and Darrel and Elaine Moore of Herkimer and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Angelo Papa and Amelio Papa and his sister, Katherine Loomis.

His funeral will be held Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at 11:00 AM in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort, with the Rev. Robert Wollaber, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, August 27 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Ave., Frankfort.
