Ilion - Virginia E. Coroniti, 69, of 8 W. Montgomery St., passed away Friday, December 16, 2011 in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Ilion on October 17, 1942, the daughter of the late August and Loretta Panaro Oliver. She attended Frankfort schools and graduated from Frankfort-Schuyler High School with the class of 1960. Virginia later attended and received her Bachelor's Degree from LeMoyne College in 1964 with her degree in French and with her Master's Degree in Reading from SUNY Cortland. She was married to Joseph J. Coroniti on August 8, 1964 in St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. Mr. Coroniti passed away on March 14, 1993. Mrs. Coroniti was a 9th grade Teacher for Ilion Central School for many years until her retirement in 2004. She was a communicant of the Church of the Annunciation where she served as a greeter and was a member of the Catholic Daughters.
Virginia is survived by one daughter and son in law, Mary Elizabeth and Mark Wychowski of Penfield; one son, John Coroniti and his fiancé, Bethany Saxton of Washington, NJ; one brother, Robert Oliver of Frankfort; her son in law, Tim McLaughlin of Penfield; her beloved grandchildren, Lauren Wychowski, Erin McLaughlin and Matthew McLaughlin as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter, Gina McLaughlin on October 29, 2004.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 PM from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave., Frankfort, and at 2:00 PM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the V.Rev. Anthony Barratt and assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 4-8 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Members of the Catholic Daughters will meet Monday evening at 7:00 for prayers at the funeral home and Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 at the church.
Virginia's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Nurses and staff of St. Luke's Memorial Hospital CCU and the Mohawk Valley Health Care Center for the wonderful care and compassion shown to her during her illness and passing.
