Thomas Samuel Ganci
Thomas Samuel Ganci, 94, passed away on December 26, 2025, in Wynn Hospital with his family by his side.
Tom was born on September 15, 1931 in Frankfort, NY, to the late Angelo and Carmella Micelli Ganci and he attended Frankfort schools and graduated from Frankfort Schuyler High School with the class of 1949. He later attended HCCC. He served our country with the US Navy during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Wasp and was Honorably Discharged on January 7, 1955. Entitled to wear the service ribbons for National Defense, China Service, Good Conduct, Korean Service, United Nations and Navy Occupation. He later enlisted with the US Army and was Honorably Discharged on March 15, 1976.
He was married to the love of his life, Joan Katherine Benthall on May 7, 1955 in St. Mary's Church. Joan passed away on February 12, 1977. He was employed as a food inspector for the US Department of Agriculture for many years until his retirement in 1991. He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church.
Tom is survived by his daughter, Karen Ganci and her companion, Douglas Parave; his cherished grandchildren, James Maida, Thomas Maida and Jaclyn Maida; three great-grandchildren, Angelo DeBrango, Grace McDonald and his newest grandson Jesse Maida and several nieces, nephews and cousins, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Ganci, his father and mother Angelo and Carmella Ganci, his son, Mark Ganci on August 19, 1977, two brothers and sisters in law, Sam and Frieda Ganci and Dominick and Marion Ganci and two sisters and brothers in law, Rose and Charles Jennings and Mary and Ray Longeretta, brother in law Walter Benthall.
A special thank you to his grandchildren James, Jaclyn and Thomas, and great-grandchildren Angelo and Grace, for all the care and compassion and help, especially during the last 2 years. A special thank you to Liz Wagner, RN who was there three times a week for wonderful care and compassion shown to Tom during his illness. A special thank you to Michelle Posello thank also helped with his care during this time. And a special thank you to his neighbors, Donna, Dan, and Diane for all their help during this time.
Spring interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort, NY. There will be no public calling hours.
His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the V.J.Iocovozzi funeral home, Inc., Frankfort
