Stephanie Sosin

Herkimer - Rochester - Mrs. Stephanie Sosin, 91, of Mt Hope Ave, Rochester formerly of E. Steele St., Herkimer passed away Thursday, March 20, 2008 in Episcopal Church Home, Rochester. She was born in Herkimer on May 3, 1916, the daughter of the late Demetro and Mary Lescynski Burchycki and she attended Herkimer schools. She was married to Joseph Sosin on November 26, 1936 in St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Herkimer. Mr. Sosin passed away on October 30, 1974. Stephanie was at one time employed by Smallen's Dress Shop, Little Falls and later as a Teachers Aide for Little Falls High School for many years until her retirement in 1982. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Little Falls and the Herkimer Seniors Citizens. Stephanie is survived by one son & daughter in law, John & Katherine Sosin of Rochester; one daughter & son in law, Nancy & Alexander Sobieski of Maplewood, NJ; two granddaughters, Sonya Sobieski & her husband Robert Davenport and Stacia Sobieski; one great granddaughter, Schuyler Davenport and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by four brothers, Michael Burchycki, Walter Burke, Joseph Burch, and Gabrielle Burchycki and two sisters, Tessie Ossipoff and Sophie Baker Her funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 in the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer with the Rev. Steven Scarcia, Rector of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery later this spring. Calling hours will be Monday from 4-8 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home.
