Lexington, NC - Cedarville - Mr. Stanley Nichols, 85, of Raper Circle, Lexington, formerly of Cedarville, passed away Monday, February 3, 2014 in Saratoga Hospital with his family by his side.
He was born in Ft. Herkimer on April 10, 1928, the son of the late Peter and Pauline Patzalaty Nichols. He attended the one room school house in Ft. Herkimer and later graduated from Mohawk High School with the class of 1946. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged on October 9, 1952. He was married to Olga Madaras on August 8, 1953 in SS Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, E. Herkimer. Olga passed away on February 5, 1994. He was later united in marriage to Opal Garris. Stanley was Owner and Operator of Cedarville Service Station, Cedarville, for many years. He was also a member of the Joseph Berberich Hose Co. in Cedarville.
Stanley is survived by one son and daughter in law, Gregory and Karen Nichols of Burnt Hills; two daughters and sons in law, Susan and Stephen Rogovich of Virginia Beach and Pamela and Charles Stephens of Richmond, VA; his second wife, Opal; two grandchildren, Eric Nichols and Stephen Nichols and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Walter Nichols and Steven Nichols and one sister, Helen Nichols.
His funeral will be held Friday evening at 6:00 pm from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer, with the V. Rev. John Udics, officiating. Spring Interment will be in SS Peter and Paul Orthodox Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday afternoon from 3-6 pm at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home.
