Frankfort - Mr. Sebastian "Pat" S. Guarniere, 84 passed away Saturday, January 31, 2009 in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
He was born in Frankfort on August 7, 1924, the son of the late Salvatore and Giovanina Rombolo Guarniere and he attended Frankfort schools. Pat served with the US Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater with Battery B 517th Field Artillery Battalion and was Honorably Discharged on December 18, 1945 with the rank of Corporal. He was married to Rose L. Paratore on June 5, 1948 in St Mary's Church, Frankfort. Mr. Guarniere was employed by Union Fork And Hoe Co., Frankfort for many years until his retirement in 1986. He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member of the American Legion Post #845, Ilion Moose Lodge #1010, V.F.W Post #502, Frankfort - Ilion, Sons of Italy, Columbiana Society, Diamond Service Club of the Union, Fork & Hoe and the Young At Heart Senior Citizens. Pat was an avid Yankees and Giants fan.
Pat is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Rose L. Guarniere, one daughter & son in law, Joann & Michael Arcuri of Frankfort; one son & daughter in law, Salvatore & Marilyn Guarniere of Hay Market, VA; his grandchildren, Jessica & her husband, Scott Benninghoff, Patrick Guarniere, Michael Arcuri, Rochelle & her husband, Thomas Eck, Ryan Guarniere; his great grandsons Logan Benninghoff, Landon Benninghoff and Thomas Eck; his brother in law, Frank Paratore of Frankfort and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers, Sam Quarneri, Paul Guarniere and Battista Guarniere and six sisters, Josephine Di Gristina, Elizabeth Marchese, Mary Simonette, Rose Warner, Florence Campese, and Edna Salamone.
His funeral will be held Thursday morning at 11:00 am in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, S. Frankfort St. Frankfort where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by the Rev. Felix Colosimo assisted by Deacon James Bower. Spring interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday 3-7 at the V.J.Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc 203 Second Ave., Frankfort. Members of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens will meet Wednesday at 3:30 pm at the funeral home and members of the American Legion will meet at 6:30 pm at the funeral home for services.
Pat's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare and to Heritage Home's Rehab unit for the wonderful care and kindness shown to him during his illness and passing.
