Mr. Santo J. "Sandy" Bono Frankfort - Mr. Santo J. "Sandy" Bono, 92, of 102 Sheldon Ave. passed away Saturday, February 20, 2016 in Mohawk Valley Health Care Center with his family by his side. He was born in Frankfort on June 16, 1923, the son of the late Charles and Rose Cappellino Bono and he attended Frankfort schools. He served with the US Army during World War II in the European Theater and was Honorably Discharged on June 18, 1946 with the rank of Corporal. He was married to Florence Palumbo on September 6, 1947 in St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. Sandy was employed by Standard Desk and later Union Fork And Hoe Co., for many years until his retirement in 1985. He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member V.F.W Post Frankfort where he served as a Past Commander and was a member of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens. Santo is survived by his beloved wife, Florence Bono; two sons and daughters in law, Richard and Grace Bono of Liverpool and Robert and Patricia Bono of Frankfort; one daughter and son in law, Lisa and Steve Tompkins of Liverpool; six grandchildren, Missy and her husband, Mark Stemmer, Matthew and his wife, Brittany Bono, Adam and his wife, Megan Rowland, Kelly Rowland, Andy Bono and Savannah Tompkins; three great grandchildren, Elijah, Joshua and Gabriel; one sister, Jennie Bono of Baldwin, NY; his in laws, Anthony and Marie Palumbo of Frankfort and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by Brother, Salvatore Bono, Brother, Carl Bono, Brother, Peter Bono, Brother, John Bono, Esq., Sister, Mary Smith His funeral will be held Thursday morning at 9:15 AM from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 10:00 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul Catena. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, February 24 from 4-8 at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Members of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens will meet Wednesday at 4:15 and the VFW at 7:00 at the funeral home for services.
