Mr. Sam T. Caiola Frankfort - Mr. Sam T. Caiola, 98, of 332 W. Main St. passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015 in his home with his family by his side. He was born in Frankfort on October 2, 1916, the son of the late James and Cecilia Damico Caiola and he attended Frankfort schools. Sam served with the US Army during World War II in the European Theater with the 802 Tank Destroyer Battalion and was honorably discharged on October 3,1945 with the rank of Tech Sergeant. He was married to Lillian Miller on December 30, 1941 in St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. Lillian passed away on March 4, 1999. Sam was employed by Cherry Burrows in Little Falls and later as the Maintenance Supervisor for Frankfort-Schuyler Central Schools until his retirement in 1978. He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member of the American Legion Post #845, Frankfort, the Addolorata Society and the 802 Tank Destroyer Battalion and its reunion committee. Sam is survived by two sons, James Caiola and Thomas Caiola, both of Frankfort; three grandchildren, Edward Caiola and his wife, Celeste, Michael Caiola and his wife, Kaitlin and Robert Caiola and his fiancee, Rachael Bushman; two great-grandchildren, Kayla and Nolan; three sisters, Florence Caiola and Joan Murphy, both of Frankfort and Cecilia Morton of Ilion; one brother and sister in law, Charles and Angie Caiola of Frankfort; his in laws, Rachel Caiola, Tina Caiola, Dan Salanco and Ed Miller and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three sisters, Mary Ruffalo, Rose Piazza and Fanny Nicolette and two brothers, Peter Caiola and Joseph Caiola. His funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 9:45 from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at in 10:30 Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul Catena. Interment will be in Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be Tuesday 4-8 at the the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Contributions in Sam's memory may be made to Stevens-Swan Humane Society, 5664 Horatio Street, Utica, NY 13502.
