Herkimer - Ms. Sadie Alexander, 100, of 314 King St. passed away Monday, June 17, 2013 in her home with her closest friends by her side.
She was born in Amsterdam on December 7, 1912, the daughter of the late Alex and Rose Asakas Alexander and she attended Amsterdam and Herkimer schools. Sadie was employed by Prine Cleaners for 47 years, by Remington Arms during WWll and lastly as a Wood Finisher for Standard Furniture for many years. She was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church and a member of its Rosary Society and Sacred Heart Society.
Sadie is survived by her nephew, John and his wife, Dianne Alexander of Elmira; her great nephews and great nieces, Robbie Alexander, Alex Alexander, Aaron Alexander and their mother, Dr. Jane Hudson, Carrie and her husband, Peter Robie and Christin Hamilton; one great-great nephew, Ethan Hamilton one great-great niece, Lauren Hamilton;; cousins, Loraine Theysser and her children, Jolene and John of PA, Helen Druziak and her sons, David and Mark of Amsterdam and her close friends, Jeanette Frederick and Dawn De Mars, both of Herkimer and Diane and Ed Bielejec of Frankfort. She was predeceased by three brothers, Ben Alexander in 1991, Leo Alexander in 1996 and Walter Alexander in 2004; her nephew, James Alexander in 2007 and her sister-in-law, Mary Alexander in 2010.

Her funeral will be held Saturday morning at 9:00 am from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer and at 9:30 in Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Lawless. Interment will be in St. Casimir Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday from 8-9 am at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home.
