Rosalie Alsante
Frankfort - Rosalie Alsante, 82, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, at Abraham House, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Ilion, NY, on March 8, 1943, the daughter of the late Frank and Agnes (Loiacono) Barretta. She attended Frankfort schools and graduated from Frankfort-Schuyler High School with the Class of 1960. Rosalie began her professional career at the Rome Air Development Center and later dedicated many years of faithful service as a Claims Representative with the Social Security Administration, where she assisted countless individuals with care, patience, and professionalism. She was a devoted communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church.
Rosalie leaves behind her three children: James Alsante and his wife, Karen, of Old Saybrook, CT; Michael Alsante of Fort Myers, FL; and Alicia Gatto and her husband, Don, of Frankfort. She is also survived by her six adored grandchildren - Markie Alexis, Matthew, Nikolas, Kristina, Nicole, and Donnie - each of whom brought immeasurable pride and joy to her life.
She is survived by her sisters, Josephine Schanzenbach and Frances Barretta. The family extends their deepest gratitude to Frances, whose loving devotion and selfless live-in care in recent years allowed Rosalie to remain surrounded by comfort, dignity, and family.
Rosalie was predeceased by her sister, Agnes Clark.
Her family also extends sincere thanks to the nurses and staff of Abraham House and Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion shown during her stay. Their dedication and warmth brought Rosalie comfort and peace, for which her family will be forever grateful.
Rosalie will be remembered for the love she so freely gave, especially to her cherished grandchildren. With her gentle heart and quiet strength, she created a legacy of warmth and devotion that will endure in the hearts of all who loved her.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., Frankfort, New York, with Deacon James Bower officiating. Spring interment will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Rosalie's memory may be made to Abraham House, 1203 Kemble St., Utica, NY 13501. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
