Herkimer - Mr. Rogelio Guzman-Ortiz, 89, of 214 Dewey Ave passed away Friday, May 20, 2011 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center.
He was born in San German, PR on October 12, 1921, the son of the late Ramon and Filomena Cardona Guzman and he attended schools there. He served with the US Army during World War II and was Honorably Discharged on October 30, 1945. He was married to Tomasa De La Rosa on January 24, 1946 in St. Vincent De Paul Church, Ponce, PR. Tomasa passed away on July 11, 1971. Rogelio was employed as a machinist for Nordic Plastic, Brooklyn for many years until his retirement in 1982.
Rogelio is survived by one son, Edwin Guzman of Herkimer; one daughter, Sandra Juncito of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Roger Guzman, Edwin Guzman Jr and Shannon Warren; three great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by son, Roger Guzman on June 1, 1962
His funeral will be held Thursday evening at 6:00 PM in the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer with Sister Marilyn Hayes officiating. Interment will be in Long Island National Cemetery on Friday morning at 10:00. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-6 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home.
