Frankfort - Mr. Robert V. Stewart, 93, of Brice Rd. passed away Thursday, August 5, 2010 in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Little Falls on February 21, 1917, the son of the late Frank and Mabel Prince Stewart. He attended Little Falls schools and graduated from Little Falls High School with the class of 1935. Robert faithfully served his country during World War II in the US Army in the 550th AAA Battalion in the European Theater and was Honorably Discharged on November 6, 1945 with the rank of Technical Sergeant. He was married to G. Barbara Blower on May 26, 1945 in Liverpool, England. Mrs. Stewart passed away on May 6, 2008. Mr. Stewart was the Office Supervisor for Niagara Mohawk, Herkimer until his retirement in 1982 after 45 years of service. Bob served on the Town of Frankfort Planning Board for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #845, Frankfort and the Herkimer Kiwanis Club and served as former Secretary-Treasurer.
Robert is survived by his daughter and son in law, Jill and Frank Palumbo of Frankfort; and his grandson Matthew Palumbo and his wife Brooke of Frankfort and several cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his sister, Arlene Humphreys on December 14, 2006.
His funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 in Mt Olivet Cemetery, Elizabeth St., Frankfort with the Rev. Robert Wollaber, pastor of Frankfort United Methodist Church officiating. His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the V.J Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave., Frankfort. There will be no public calling hours.
