Richard D. Riegler

Herkimer - Richard D. Riegler, 59, of Steuben Hill Rd. passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side, Saturday, April 4, 2009 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. He was born in Rome on August 26, 1949, the son of the late George Edward and Betty Eggen Riegler. Richard graduated from Rome Free Academy with the class of 1967 and went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree at SUNY IT. He married Carol Kozakowski on May 4, 1974 in St. Joseph's Church, Herkimer. Mr. Riegler worked as a School Bus Driver for Herkimer Central Schools for many years until his illness. He will always be remembered for his kind heart and generosity. Richard is survived by his wife, Carol; two daughters, Laura Riegler and Sarah Riegler both of Frankfort; two brothers, Donald Riegler and David Riegler both of Rome; and one granddaughter, Tianna Rose Riegler who meant the world to him. He was predeceased by one sister, Sylvia Hawkins, and one brother, Terry Riegler. His funeral will be held at 3pm Friday, from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer with the Reverend Karen Marshall, Pastor, officiating. Calling Hours will be Thursday from 6-8pm.
