Pierina Candela

Herkimer - Mrs. Pierina Candela, 72, of 104 N. Washington St passed away Thursday, May 1, 2008 in Folts Home. She was born in Valle d'Istria, Yugoslavia on June 22, 1935, the daughter of the late Pietro and Maria Banco Gaspi and she attended schools there. She was at one time married to Francesco Candela on May 8, 1960 in Torino, Italy. She was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church. Pierina is survived by her beloved daughter & son in law, Giovanna & Salvatore Baggetta of Herkimer, her daughter, Maria Candela of Buffalo; her cherished grandchildren, Matthew Baggetta, Francesca Baggetta and Gina Baggetta; two sisters, Antonia Del Caro, Alda Mottica and one brother, Guerino Gaspi all of Turino, Italy and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one sister, Yolanda Pastrovicchio. Her funeral will be held Monday morning at 8:30 am from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 9:00 am in Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4-8 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home. Pierina's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of the Folts Home's 4th floor for the wonderful care and compassion shown to her during her stay and passing.
