Frankfort - Mrs. Phyllis Costanza, 84, of 609 Reese Rd. passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Frankfort on April 20, 1927, the daughter of the late Sam and Cologira Scamardo Licari and she attended Frankfort schools. Phyllis met the love of her life, Vito Costanza, when they were both employed at Remington Rand. They were united in marriage on September 11, 1948 in St. Mary's Church. Together, they owned and operated the Royal Market in Frankfort for many years. Phyllis was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member of its Altar Rosary Society, serving as a Past President, a member of the Amen Choir and a Life Member of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens.
Phyllis is survived by her beloved husband, Vito Costanza; three sons and daughters in law, Joseph and Theresa Costanza of Frankfort, Sam and Christina Costanza and Victor and Mary Jane Costanza of Schuyler; five cherished grandchildren, Margaretmary Costanza, Joellen Costanza, Matthew Costanza, Victor and his wife, Kimberly Costanza, Jr. and James Costanza; two brothers, Anthony Licari of Frankfort and Sam Licari of Ft. Herkimer; her in laws, Lucy Licari, Nancy and Joseph Diliberto and Rose Zito; one aunt, Rose Guarniere; one uncle, Frank Paratore and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three brothers, Anthony Licari, Bennie Licari and Louis Licari and two sisters, Angela Tamburro and Mary Guido Aiello.
Her funeral will be held Saturday morning at 9:00 AM from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 9:30 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Alfred Lamanna, pastor emeritus and assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 4-7 at V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Members of the Young At Heart Senior Citizens will meet Friday afternoon at 4:00 at the funeral home for services.
