Herkimer - Mr. Phillip "Trip" Tripolone, 79, of Herkimer, passed away Monday, November 23, 2015 in Valley Health Services with his family by his side.
He was born in Herkimer on March 12, 1936, the son of the late Carmello and Helen Scalise Tripolone and he attended Herkimer schools. He proudly served with the US Air Force and was Honorably Discharged on May 6, 1963 with the rank of A2C. He was married to Philomena Petucci on September 10, 1966 in St. Anthony's Church. Trip was employed by Remington Arms for many years until his retirement in 2001. Following his retirement, Trip was an attendant at Iocovozzi Funeral Homes for many years. He was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church and a member of the St. Anthony's Glee Club, Herkimer Elks BPOE Lodge #1439, St. Anthony's Crusaders and the Tony R. George Post #6.
Trip is survived by his beloved wife, Philomena Tripolone; two daughters and sons-in-law, Maria and Joseph Gallagher of Herkimer and Susan and Duane Meszler of Oklahoma City; one son and daughter in law, Phillip and Lisa Tripolone of Troy; seven grandchildren, Nicole, Matthew and Daniel Gallagher, Llianna and Kiara Tripolone and Mitchell and Cameron Meszler; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Grace and Raymond Durso and Josephine Rocco; one brother and sister-in-law, Carmen and Theresa Tripolone, all of Utica; his aunt, Eleanor Scalise of Herkimer; his in laws, Antoinette and John Palmieri and Domenick and Patricia Petucci, all of Herkimer and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother in law, Anthony Rocco.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 8:30 AM from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 9:00 AM in Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Quy Vo. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, November 27 from 4-8 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home. Members of the Elks Club will meet Friday evening at 6:00 PM at the funeral home for services.
Trip's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of Valley Health Services for the wonderful care shown to him during his stay and passing.
