E. Herkimer - Mr. Paul Nasypany, 88, of 203 Zoller Ave. passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2013 in University Hospital with his family by his side.
He was born in Herkimer on June 29, 1925, the son of the late Wasyl and Eva Bundyk Nasypany. He attended Herkimer schools and graduated from Herkimer High School with the class of 1943. During WWII, Paul served with the Merchant Marines and later with the Occupation Forces in Japan with the US Army and was Honorably Discharged on May 22, 1947. Following his time with the US Army, Paul served with the National Guard and attained the rank of First Sergeant and retired on March 21, 1978.
He was married to Frances Walker on November 20, 1948 in St. Mary's Church, Little Falls. Paul was a Research Engineer for Remington Arms, Ilion, until his retirement in 1978.
He was a communicant of St. Francis De Sales Church, a member of the East Herkimer Fish and Game Club, V.F.W. and the Polish Community Home where he served as a treasurer.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife, Frances Nasypany; two sons and one daughter in law, David and La Donna Nasypany of Utica and Gary Nasypany and his girlfriend, Michelle Hurt of Rochester; two grandchildren, Christopher and his wife, Sarah Carriero of Paris, France and Tammura and her husband, Bert Adreon of TN; two great grandchildren, Rocco Adreon and Auguste Carriero; two sisters and one brother in law, Jennie Mayton of Mohawk and Emily and Vaughn McPherson of Central Square; two brothers and one sister in law, Joseph Nasypany of Royal Oak, MI and Ray and Shuivaun Nasypany of TX; his in laws, Helen Nasypany of E. Herkimer, Beatrice Nasypany, Janet and Thomas Burns of Little Falls, Carlton Rice of Ft. Plain and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by four brothers, PFC Michael Nasypany USMC KIA WWII, Peter Nasypany, George Nasypany and John Nasypany and one sister, Mary Malinchak.
His funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 10:00 from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 11:00 in St. Francis De Sales Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Mark Cunningham, pastor. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-7 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home.
