Herkimer - Mr. Norbert S. "Red" Krawczeski, 81, formerly of S. Bellinger St., Herkimer, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 31, 2014 in Valley Health Services with his family by his side.
He was born in Herkimer on August 7, 1932, the son of the late Chester and Bertha Adamcyzk Krawczeski and he attended Herkimer schools. He served in the US Air Force in Japan until his Honorable Discharge on July 31, 1960. Norbert was employed as a Warehouseman for M.D.S. in Herkimer for many years until his retirement. He was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, a member of the American Legion Adirondack Post #1118 in Cold Brook, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4915, the Herkimer Elks BPOE Lodge #1439 and the Polish Community Home. Norbert is survived by one sister, Irene Wezalis of Ilion; his nieces and nephews, John and Bonnie Wezalis of Ilion, Kristine Quigley of Malone, Karen and Gerald Manes of TN, Kathleen Crosio of Bishop, CA; and his great nieces and nephews, Nicole and her husband Daniel Schwartz, Jessica Quigley, Valerie and her husband, Jason Dodge, Adam Wezalis and his wife, Stephanie and Leanne Wezalis; his great-great-nephew, Joshua Wezalis and his great-great-niece, Sophie Dodge. He was predeceased by one brother, Richard Krawczeski in 1997.
His funeral will be held Monday morning at 9:00 from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 9:30 in Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Terrance Healey and assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4-8 PM at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home. Members of the VFW will meet Sunday evening at 7:00 at the funeral home for services. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Red's memory made be made to a charity of one's choice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
