Ms. Nida Elizabeth Babich Frankfort - Ms. Nida Elizabeth Babich, 86, of 130 Edgebrook Estates passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, November 29, 2006 in Little Falls Hospital. She was born in Danielson, CT on November 11, 1920 the daughter of the late Wasley and Anna Kuleniak Babich. She attended Van Hornesville schools and graduated from Owen D. Young High School with the class of 1938 as their Salutatorian. Ms. Babich was at one time employed by Griffiss Air Force Base and later was the Executive Secretary-Office Administrator for General Electric, French Rd. Utica for many years until her retirement in 1986. Nida was a very active member of S.S. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, serving on it's Parish Council and a member of it's Sisterhood and the R Club serving as it's Secretary-Treasurer for many years. She also served as the Secretary-Treasurer for the local AARP chapter and also was the newsletter editor for many years. She was an avid bowler and golfer. Nida was a person who was very generous with her assets and time and spoke several languages fluently. Nida is survived by her nieces, Kimberly & her husband, James Matthews, Sheila Postlethwait, Patricia Hendrickson and Linda Babich; her great nephews and great nieces, Thomas, Richard, Robert, Nathan, Blinda, Dianna and Chrystine and several cousins. She was predeceased by one brother, Alexander P. Babich on January 29, 1973; two sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Olga) Lamos on December 10, 1987 and Nadine Babich in June of 1916 and one nephew, Alexander P. Babich. Her funeral will be held Monday morning at 9:00 am from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 9:30 am in S.S. Peter And Paul Orthodox Church with the Rev Fr Seraphim Majmudar, officiating. Interment will be in SS Peter and Paul Orthodox Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Sunday from 2-6 pm at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home. Parastas will be held Sunday evening at 5:30 pm with Father Majmudar, officiating.
