Mr. Nicholas J. Piacente
Herkimer - Mr. Nicholas J. Piacente, 81, of 260 N. Main St passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013 in Bassett Health Care with his family by his side.
He was born in Herkimer on January 29, 1932, the son of the late Dominick and Domenica Minnie Losito Piacente and he attended Herkimer schools. He served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Nick was employed in the Saw Mill of Library Bureau, Herkimer for many years. Nick was also employed by Heidelberg Bakery and retired in 2000. He was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church and a member of Veterans Of Foreign Wars Post #4915 and the Polish Community Home. He was a very hard worker, he had an artistic ability and loved to draw. He loved to make people laugh and dance.
Nick is survived by five daughters and two sons in law, Cindy Rook, of Sterling, Lori and Michael Adukiewicz of Herkimer, Mary Ann and Brian Stone of Cedarville, Cathy Trevor of Glens Falls and Dawn Edick of Herkimer; two sons, Nicholas Piacente and John Piacente both of FL; one brother and sister in law, John and Effie Piacente of Waterford; three grandchildren, Crystal Hall and her fiancée, David Comstock, James Galusha of Herkimer; and Christopher Talma of Ilion; four great-grandchildren , Caesar Mallace, Tarian Galusha, Jameson Galusha and Montana Shorer, three dear friends, Kim Ryan of Herkimer, Candy Fuller and Susan Slabe both of Ilion; a very special adopted daughter, Ann Marie and her husband, Herb Pascone of Herkimer; his three feline fury angels (his nurses) Faith, Hope, Jo Jo and Jizzy who greeted him in heaven and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two sisters, Raffaela Battaglia and Mary Gizowski
His funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 9:00 from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 9:30 in Sts. Anthony And Joseph Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Lawless. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. .Calling hours will be Tuesday 2-6 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home.
