Mr. Nicholas Paslow
Herkimer - Mr. Nicholas Paslow, 85, of 305 Eastern Avenue passed away Friday, December 30, 2005 in Bassett Health Care.
He was born in Troy on December 1, 1920, the son of the late Anthony and Anna Procak Paslowsky. He attended Troy schools and graduated from Troy High School. He served during World War II in the Army Air Corps as a Staff Sergeant in the Asiatic Pacific Theater as a Mechanic and Gunner on a B25 and A20 aircraft during the war. He was Honorably Discharged in November of 1954 and was the recipient of the Asiatic Pacific Campaigne Medal with two Bronze Stars. He was married to Mary Kryniak on October 11, 1952 in St. Mary´s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, a blessed union of 33 years until Mary passed away on April 18, 1986. Mr. Paslow was an Electric Technician for Sperry Univac, Remington Rand and later for M D S, Herkimer for many years. Following his retirement, Nick actively continued his education by attending Herkimer County Boces for nearly two decades. He was a Communicant of St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church and a long time member of it´s choir.
Nicholas is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Laurel Paslow of Schenectady; his grandson, Nicholas Owen Paslow of Schenectady; one sister, Dr. Eugenia Chrepta of Manalapan, NJ; his sisters in law and one brother in law, Stella Kryniak and Helen & Ezzio Macrina all of Herkimer and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three brothers, Timothy Paslow, John "Murph" Paslow & Joseph Paslow and four sisters, Rose Paslow, Kathryn Stewart, Jessie DeCelle and Mary Relyea.
His funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 am from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 11:00 am in St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church with the Rev Fr Mykola Krywonos, officiating. Spring interment will be in St. Mary's Ukranian Orthodox Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5-8 PM at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home. Parastas will be held Tuesday evening at 7:00 at the funeral home with Fr. Krywonos, officiating.
