Michael Rinko

New Hartford - Mr. Michael Rinko, Jr., 73, of 3 Sycamore Dr., passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center. He was born in Herkimer on July 13, 1936, the son of the late Michael and Anna Kovalchic Hrinko. He attended Herkimer schools and graduated from Herkimer High School with the class of 1955. He later attended and graduated from SUNY Oswego with the class of 1959 with his Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. Michael served our country with the US Navy Reserves. Mr. Rinko was employed as an Elementary School Teacher at Bills School, Herkimer, Saratoga Elementary Schools, Greenwich School System and lastly for the Utica School District for many years. He was a member of S.S. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, the American Legion Post 8616, New Hartford and the Masonic Temple, Herkimer. Michael is survived by three brothers and sisters in law, Joseph and Helen Rinko of Herkimer, John and Jean Rinko of Saratoga Springs and Paul and Mary Kate Rinko of Utica; his dear friends, Dan and Kim Hale, Sheila and James Roselli, Freddie Diable and Joseph and Marci Iozzo and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, George Rinko and Anthony Rinko and one sister and brother in law, Mary and Henry Sokolowski. His funeral will be held Monday morning at 11:30 AM from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer and at 12:00 PM in S.S. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church with the Rev. Fr. James Worthington, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 10:00 - 11:30 AM at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home.
