Michael P. Gross

Frankfort - Michael P. Gross, 60, of Frankfort, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Oneida Health with his family by his side.

He was born in Utica, New York, on July 22, 1963, the son of Donald and Arlene (Haman) Gross. He attended Frankfort schools and graduated from Frankfort-Schuyler High School with the class of 1981. He later attended Daemen College, Amherst, NY. He was married to Monica Zapata on September 3, 1993, in Sts. Peter and Paul's Church, Frankfort. Michael was employed as a manager by Canoe Outfitters, Jupiter, FL, for many years and most recently HCI Technologies, Vernon, NY.  Michael was a communicant of St. Anthony and St. Agnes Church and a member of Phi Beta Gamma Fraternity. It was the simple pleasure of being with his family that Mike cherished the most. He was an avid woodworker, finding excitement in working on a new project. He loved nothing more than watching his son Josh play baseball. He could often be found watching all sports. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially hiking, fishing, and bike riding. One of his ultimate enjoyments was going out for breakfast with his family and friends.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Monica Gross; his mother, Arlene Gross of Frankfort; two sons,  Jordan Gross (Kayla Crouch, girlfriend) and Joshua Gross (Alyssa Peters, girlfriend); his beloved canine companion Blu Berry; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Kathie and Joseph Long of Frankfort, and Karen and Albert Casab of Utica;  his mother-in-law, Bertha Zapata of Port St Lucie, Florida; his in laws, Anna and Bill Jennings, Claudia Alzate and Ruthie and O'Hara Mackey, all of Port St Lucie, FL; nephews and nieces, Daniel Long (Rali Gencheva,  girlfriend), Nicole Casab, Michelle Casab, Briana and Nic Padrick, Julian Jennings, Christopher Alzate, and several cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Donald Gross, on May 23, 2013.

His family is forever grateful to Mike Warrick and Haris Rizvonovic, and the staff at HCI for their heroic measures.
