Mr. Michael Ciko
E. Herkimer- Mr. Michael Ciko, 86, of 136 Pine Grove Rd passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2007 in Little Falls Hospital.
He was born in Herkimer on September 18, 1920, the son of the late Alex and Tekla Senko Ciko. He attended Herkimer schools and graduated from Herkimer High School with the class of 19398. Mike served with the US Navy during World War II in the South Pacific as an Aviation Metalsmith F/C and was Honorably Discharged on February 5, 1946. He was united in marriage with Helen Krenichyn on March 5, 1949 in SS Peter & Paul Orthodox Church. He was employed by Library Bureau for 17 years and later as the Director of the Maintenance Department for Herkimer Central School until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of S.S. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church and it's R Club and had served on the Parish's Cemetery Board and as Treasurer for many years
Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Helen Ciko; one son & daughter in law, John & Sharon Ciko of E. Herkimer; four daughters & two sons in law Michelle Ciko of Schenectady, Sharon & Michael Ritz of Boise, ID,; Deanna Rosenberg and Laura & Lee Howell all of Sarasota, FL; his grandchildren, Erica Ciko, Valerie Ritz, Jonathon & his wife, Lindsay Ritz, Arial Rosenberg, Tori Rosenberg and Casey & her husband, Chad Gasper; two great grandchildren, Zoe Ritz and Charlee Gasper; one sister, Helen Orandello of East Rockaway, two sisters in law, Mildred Krenichyn of Herkimer and Tillie Leve of E. Herkimer and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two sisters, Ann Fabbio and Mary Ciko and one brother, John Ciko
His funeral will be held Monday morning at 9:00 am from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 9:30 am in S.S. Peter And Paul Orthodox Church with Archpriest James M. Jadick, officiating. Interment will be in SS Peter and Paul Orthodox Cemetery with full Military Honors accorded by the US Navy. Calling Hours will be Sunday from 4-8 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home. Parastas will be held Sunday evening at 7:30 at the funeral home with Father Jadick, officiating.
