Melissa Missy Lasowski

Herkimer - Mrs. Melissa "Missy" Lasowski, 30, of Marion St., passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010 in University Hospital, Syracuse after a courageous battle with cancer. Missy was born in Herkimer on January 18, 1980, the daughter of Michael and Sandra Richvalsky. She graduated from Mohawk High School with the class of 1998. Missy received her Bachelor's Degree in teaching from Elmira College in 2002 and her Master's Degree from Walden University in 2004. She was married to Brian Lasowski on August 8, 2008 in St. Francis De Sales Church by the Rev. Mark Cunningham. Mrs. Lasowski worked as a First Grade Teacher at Herkimer Elementary School and also coached JV Basketball and Varsity Softball. Missy is survived by her beloved husband, Brian Lasowski; her parents, Michael and Sandra Richvalsky of Mohawk; one sister, Tanya Richvalsky; her paternal grandfather and grandmother, June and Louis Richvalsky, all of Mohawk; her maternal grandfather and grandmother, Edward and Ann Slowik of Cedarville; her father in law and mother in law, Ronald and Bonnie Lasowski; one sister in law, Kristin Lasowski; her niece, Hayley and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Her funeral will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 AM in St. Francis De Sales Church, N. Bellinger St., Herkimer where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Mark Cunningham, pastor. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 4-8 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer.
