Frankfort - Mr. Mathew Matteo James Zennamo, 86, of 401 Palmer St. passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, February 14, 2016 in his home with his family by his side.
He was born in Utica on November 9, 1929, the son of the late Pasquale and Mary Citro Zennamo and he attended Utica schools. He was at one time married to Theresa DeMichele and from that marriage they had four children. He was later married to Rose Sweet on November 5, 1988 in Las Vegas. Rose and Matty's wedding was blessed by the Catholic Church in June of 1989 in St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. Matty was the Manager at Broadway Body Works, Utica for 55 years until his retirement in 1998. He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member St. Francis Di Paolo Society, Frankfort, the Kiwanis Club of Utica and the Tilden Ave. Rosary Group. Matty loved his Saturday mornings with his friends at the Marr-Logg.
Matty is survived by his beloved wife, Rose Zennamo; one son and daughter in law, Mathew and Joan Zennamo, Jr. of Frankfort; three daughters and one son in law, Diane and John Langone of Whitesboro, Cynthia Lubas of Utica and Theresa Ann Licari of New York City; his step-children, Ronald Fobare, Gregory and Susan Fobare and Suzette Wright and her companion, John Weber; two sisters, Eda Langone of Utica and Mary Jane Zennamo of Middleville; he also has eight grandchildren, Deanna and her husband, Christopher Butera, Jason Lubas, Alexis Fobare and her companion, Kyle McGovern, Ashleigh Fobare and her fiancé, Joshua Allen, Nicole Fobare, Janasa Franco and her fiancé, Christopher Livingston, Justina Franco and Lynn Wright; two great-grandchildren, Emma Butera and Brayden Fobare; his in laws, Phyllis Fraccola, Bernadette Enjem and Joseph Sweet, Sr.; his beloved canine, Matteo and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father in law and mother in law, Angelo and Mary Sweet; his brothers, Joseph Zennamo, Alfredo Zennamo and Patsy Zennamo and his brother in law, John Langone.
His funeral will be held Thursday morning at 9:45 AM from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 10:30 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul Catena. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, February 17 from 4-8 at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Members of the St. Francis Society will meet Wednesday evening at 6:00 at the funeral home for services. By family request, please omit flowers.
