Mr. Mathew P. Dudeck Frankfort - Mr. Mathew P. Dudeck, 81, of 215 Second Ave entered into the arms of the Lord on Saturday, August 31, 2013 in his home with his loving wife, Grace by his side. He was born in Utica on December 2, 1931, the son of the late Mathew E. and Frances H. Cichowski Dudeck. He attended St. Joseph's Catholic School and later at Sacred Heart School graduating with the class of 1945. He later attended and graduated from Whitesboro High School with the class of 1949. On February 14, 1951, he enlisted in the US Navy. Following boot camp at Great Lakes, he was assigned to the Naval Air Station, Norfolk, VA where he served as a Structural and Hydraulic Mechanic on many aircraft. In 1954 he was assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea and served in the Mediterranean Ocean during the Korean Conflict. He was Honorably Discharged on January 25, 1955. On August 8, 1958 Mathew began his employment with Niagara Mohawk Power Co. as a Laborer. After serving in several positions through out the company he retired as a Chief Gas Foreman on January 9, 1989 after 31 years of service. In 1979, he met Grace Lore Ortello in Frankfort. Grace was a widow with four children living in Frankfort. Matt and Grace were united in marriage on July 2, 1982 in Frankfort. They loved to travel the US especially in their various motor homes. They enjoyed many campgrounds and delighted in various friends they had made, while appreciating the life of leisure. His great passion was NASCAR and followed races across the states and his favorite race being Dover Downs. At home you could find him working in his garage on anything mechanical, meticulously washing and waxing his vehicles or engaging in projects if someone needed help, all the while listening to his favorite music, Bluegrass. He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member of the Niagara Mohawk 25 year Club, American Legion Post #845, V.F.W Post #5538, Boonville and the Moose Fraternity Lodge #1271, Lady Lake, Fl. Mathew is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Grace M. Dudeck and Bruno his sidekick Yorkie; his two children from his previous marriages, a son, Michael Dudeck and his companion, Linda Cox of Utica and one daughter, Casandra Ramirez of Schuyler. He was a step father to Suzanne Ortello of Frankfort, Tonianne and her husband, Benjamin Gardiner of New York Mills, Anthony and his wife, Sarah Ortello of Las Vegas and Josephine and her husband, John LaSalle of Frankfort; nine grandchildren, Michael Dudeck, Michelle Miles, Crystal Dudeck, Jordan Vu, Jared Vu, Gabriella Ramirez, Kailin Ann Brokaw, Neil Brokaw Jr.and Elizabeth Grace aka Libby LaSalle who blessed his life every day; two great grandsons; one brother and sister in law, Ken and Pam Dudeck of Oriskany; one sister and brother in law, Evelyn and Jerry Heintz of Whitesboro and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his loving four legged companions, a Boston Terrier named "Boots" and a Yorkshire Terrier named "Sir Sedrick" His funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 10:30 in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, S. Frankfort St., Frankfort where a Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated by Rev. Paul Catena and assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours. His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort. Mathew's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to his' chemo crew, Arlene, Michele and Reggie; his girls from Bassett Healthcare and Hospice for all the wonderful care shown to him during his illness and passing.
