Mary Kalka

Ilion - Mrs. Mary Kalka, 94, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2026, in Abraham House.

She was born in Disnyky, Western Ukraine, on May 14, 1932 the daughter of the late Stefan and Anna Diakowycz. She and her family came to America in 1949 settling in Minnesota and she attended schools there. Mary was married to Raphael Kalka on September 7, 1949 in Minnesota. Raphael passed away on April 27, 2014. She was employed as a seamstress for Duofold, Ilion for many years and retired in 1989. She was a communicant of the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion.

Mary is survived by her four sons and three daughters in law, Emil Kalka, Daniel and his wife, Cindy Kalka, Terrence and his wife, Bonnie Kalka and Jerald and his wife, Claire Kalka; two daughters and sons in law, Mary and her husband, Roger Shweid and Karen and her husband, James DeCarr; fifteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Raphael Kalka; her parents, Stefan and Anna Diakowycz; one son, Darrel Kalka in 2000 and one brother, Emil Diakowycz.

Her funeral will be held on Thursday morning, July 30, 2026 at 9:45 AM from the V.J.Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. 203 Second Ave Frankfort and at 10:30 AM in Church of the Annunciation, West St., Ilion, NY, where her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev Paul Catena, Pastor. Interment services will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026 at 12:30 in Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery 200 Duell Rd, Schuylerville, NY 12871. For those attending the burial service please arrive at the cemetery gate at 12:00 Noon.

Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Iocovozzi Funeral & Cremation Services, Herkimer, New York.
