Mary Lu Ferrucci

Ilion - Ms. Mary Lu Ferrucci, 66, of James St. passed away, Sunday, June 19, 2016 in Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with her loving family by her side. She was born in Herkimer on January 18, 1950, the daughter of the late Fred J. and Josephine Piscione Ferrucci. She attended Herkimer Schools, graduating from Herkimer High School with the class of 1968. Her current employer was Excellus of Utica for over thirteen years as a customer service medical intake advocate, from which she retired on May 20, 2016. Prior to that, Mary Lu was employed for many years as a secretary/receptionist at the office of Dr. George Schilling and Dr. Jorge Ferreiro. Mary Lu was a dedicated employee who seldom missed a day of work and whose bright smile, contagious laugh, and unique sense of humor will leave a lasting impression on those with whom she worked and interacted. She had a radiant personality that livened up any occasion with her spunky, comical ways. Mary Lu was a devoted sister, a loving, generous aunt, and a loyal, kindhearted friend who is irreplaceable. Many thanks to her special friend Janet Hahn who has been by our side since Mary Lu first went into the hospital. Special thanks also to her coworkers at Excellus for their continuous care and support. Mary Lu is survived by one sister and brother in law, Rose and Vinny Scalise of Ilion; one brother and sister in law, Michael and Sue Ann Ferrucci of Utica; her niece and nephew, Angela and Michael Bourke of VA and their children, Conor and Amelia, and Gino and Annie Scalise of Ilion, and their children, Brynna and Vincenzo. Mary Lu's family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Ramaraju, Dr. Mickey and a special nurse practitioner, Carrie, at Strong Memorial Hospital for taking excellent care of her. Her funeral will be held Friday morning at 10:00 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer with Deacon James Bower, officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer. Calling hours will be held Thursday evening from 4-7 PM in the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home.
