Mary Averson Caiola, age 101, passed peacefully on September 28, 2023, at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Ilion, NY.

Born February 14, 1922, one of eleven children to the late Peter and Giovanina Borachiello Averson of Herkimer.  Mary lived most of her life in Frankfort.

She was married to Anthony J. Caiola for 67 years and they will be reunited together, along with their daughter, Kathleen Caiola Romano, in the presence of the Lord.

Completing her MS in Nursing at SUNY Oswego, Mary was well known in the community as a nurse and educator.  She was an extraordinary woman who embraced life with strong faith.

A communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort, NY, she leaves behind a legacy of devotion and service to God, her family, and friends.

Survived by daughter Toni (James) Bono and son-in-law Michael Romano; three grandchildren, Michael (Kimberly) Romano Jr., Kristen (Daniel) McKenzie, and Stephen (Emily) Romano along with seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be celebrated by the Reverend Father Paul Catena on Saturday October 7th at 10:30am, Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church with a Mass of Christian Burial followed by interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.  There will be no calling hours.

Mary will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.  In her memory donations may be made to Our Lady Queen of Apostles, 412 South Frankfort Street, Frankfort, New York  13340.
