Mr. Martin J. Aversa Frankfort - Mr. Martin J. Aversa, 82, of 324 Bee St passed away unexpectedly Thursday, October 27, 2005 in his home. He was born in Frankfort on August 27, 1923, the son of the late Giacinto Jack and Rose Puzzilla Aversa and he attended Frankfort schools. Marty loved sports especially football. While playing on the Frankfort High School Football Team, he was very proud of being voted All County Center. He served during World War II in the US Army and was Honorably Discharged on May 22, 1943. Mr. Aversa was an Inspector for Union Fork And Hoe Co., Frankfort for many years. He was a Communicant of Our Lady Queen Of Apostles Church and a member Young At Heart Senior Citizens and the St. Francis Di Paolo Society. He loved music, especially opera and was an avid trombone player with the Frankfort Vets Band and the Red Band for many years. He was an avid sports fan and loved all sports especially the New York Yankees. Marty is survived by one sister, Nancy Aversa of Frankfort; his brother & sister in law, Anthony & Rose Aversa of Fonda; his nieces and nephews, Jack & Rose Aversa of Malta, Cathy & Mark Roberts of Scotia, Marty & Julia Aversa of VA and Nancy & Ken Gutelius of Mi; his great nieces and great nephew, Cassandra, Jacqueline and Felicia Aversa, Matthew and Erin Roberts, Elizabeth Aversa, Hannah and Danielle Gutelius; his dedicated cousins, Thomas & Pat Ruffalo, Grace Cardinal, Anthony & Susan Cardinal & family, John & Jan Cardinal & family, Anthony & Matia Laura & family who were special cousins and Martin's companions, Marie Puzzilla & family, Carmelita & Frank Lercara & family, Frank Jeffalone & family, Carl Conigilio & family and the Nurod family; his close friends and companions, Angelo Sweet, Joe Grippe and Frank Rossi and several cousins and many friends. Martin loved children and was especially fond of his cousins, Adriana, Victoria, Sophia and Gianna Salatino and his neighbors, Mattie and Joshua Gage. He was predeceased by three brothers, John Aversa in 1984, Louis Aversa II in 1930 and Louis Aversa III in 1936. His funeral will be held Monday morning at 9:00 am from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 9:30 am in Our Lady Queen Of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Alfred Lamanna, Pastor Emeritus. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Sunday from 4-8 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Members of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens will meet Sunday Afternoon at 4:15, the Red Band at 6:00 and the St. Francis Society at 6:30 at the funeral home for services.
