Herkimer - Mrs. Marion Talarico, 91, of 504 Park Ave. passed away Monday, October 14, 2013 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center with her family by her side.
She was born in Pianopoli, Province of Catanzaro, Italy on May 29, 1922, the daughter of the late Clementen Antonio and Frances Marie Donato Malta. The family came to the United States on November 29, 1929 and she attended Herkimer Schools. She was married to Anthony Talarico on August 28, 1948 in St. Anthony's Church. Tony passed away on March 15, 1999. Marion was employed as an Inspector for Derby Sportswear, later for Herkimer County Cheese and retired from Duofold, Mohawk. She was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church and a member of the Crafty Ladies, Third Order of St. Francis, TR George Auxiliary and the Town of Herkimer Seniors.
Marion is survived by two daughters and one son in law, Felicia and Joseph Barretta of Rochester and Frances LaBarbera of Herkimer; one sister, Ida Aversa of Frankfort; one brother and sister in law, Frank and Palma Malta of Utica; three grandchildren, Joseph and his wife, Denise Barretta, Jennifer LaBarbera and Anthony LaBarbera; one great granddaughter, Guiliana Barretta; sister in law, Shirley Malta of CA and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her grandson, Michael Barretta on December 26, 1980 and three brothers, Gregory Antonio Malta, Joseph Malta and Americo Malta.
Her funeral will be held Thursday at 10:00 AM from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 10:30 AM in Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church where her funeral mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Lawless. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday evening from 4-7 at Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home.
