Frankfort - Mrs. Marie T. Licari, 80, of 446 Fifth Ave. Ext. passed away peacefully Friday, September 25, 2009 in her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Algrange, Province of Moselle, France on August 2, 1929, the daughter of the late Francois Joseph and Barbara Kempa and she attended schools in France. Marie attended and graduated from Thionville University, Thionville, France. She served with the French Army as a Teletype Operator. She was married to Anthony Licari on January 27, 1953 in US Army Chapel, Dornigheim, Germany. Marie was the Assistant Manager for Stop N Go and later Bonfair in Frankfort for over 20 years. She also taught French at MVCC for many years. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church. Marie is survived by her beloved husband, Anthony Licari; two sons and daughters in law, Anthony and Marie Licari of Frankfort and Michael and Julie Licari of San Diego, CA; one daughter and son in law, Barbara and John Bouck of Altmar; two sisters, Leonie Pierrot and Catherine Verdu both of France; her grandchildren, Anthony Licari, Ryan Licari, Jamie Licari, Matthew Licari, Michael "Mikey" Licari and Remi Licari; her in laws, Phyllis & Vito Costanza of Frankfort, Sam & Mayme Licari of Ft. Herkimer and Lucy Licari of St. Johnsville; her special friend, Claude Boyle of Mohawk; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph Kempa, Carl Kempa and Clement Kempa and one sister, Marianette Kempa. Her funeral will be held Thursday morning October 1, 2009 at 10:30 am in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Barrett, pastor and assisted by Deacon James Bower. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours. Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort. Marie's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Hospice for the wonderful care and kindness shown to her during her illness and passing.
