Maria Caterina Stagliano

Mrs. Maria Caterina Stagliano Herkimer - Mrs. Maria Caterina Stagliano, 101, of 227 Dewey Ave. passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at home with her loving family by her side. She was born in Chiaravalle C. Cantanzaro, Calabria, Italy on August 23, 1912, the daughter of the late Francesco and Julia Cortese and she attended schools there. She was married to Guiseppe Stagliano on December 19, 1936 in Italy. Guiseppe passed away on August 24, 2013. She was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church. Maria was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who always took great care of her family. Maria is survived by her beloved family, one son and daughter in law, Mario and Sondra Stagliano of Herkimer; three daughters and sons in law, Maria and Antonio Sontoro, Julia and Guiseppe Manno, all of Herkimer and Catherine and Vincent Marchese of Little Falls; her cherished grandchildren and their spouses, Joseph and Pam, Melissa and Steve, Michelle and Michael, Marla, Sylvanna, Frank and Patty, Joann and Ted, Dominick and Mary, Tima and Mike, Joseph, Salvi and Wendy and Mariella and Tim; twenty two great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three brothers, Joseph, Nicola and Vincenzo and three sisters, Caterina, Antoinette and Fiorina. Her funeral will be held Monday morning at 10:30 AM from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 11:00 AM in Sts. Anthony & Joseph Church, 228 S. Main St. Herkimer, where a funeral mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Terence Healy, assisted by Deacon James Bower. Entombment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
