Herkimer - Maria Stagliano Santoro, 87, of Herkimer passed away Friday, September 5, 2025 in her home with her family by her side.

She was born in Chiaravalle, Province of Catanzaro, Calabria, Italy, on October 14, 1937, the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Maria Cortese Stagliano and she attended schools there.

She was married to Antonio Santoro on February 28, 1958 in Chiaravalle, Italy. The couple came to the United States in 1967 settling in Herkimer. Antonio passed away on October 7, 2014. Maria was a Seamstress for Joseph and Feiss, Utica for many years. She was a communicant of Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church.

Maria is survived by one son, Francesco and Patricia Santoro of West Dover VT; one daughter, Silvanna Santoro-Heidler of Herkimer; one brother and sister in law, Mario and Sondra Stagliano of Herkimer; two sisters, Julia Manno of Herkimer and Catherine Marchese of Little Falls; her grandson, Antonio Bennett Santoro and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by one daughter, Maria Santoro; one son, Giuseppe Santoro and her nephew, Joseph Manno.

Her funeral will be held Monday, September 15, 2025 at 11:45 from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home Inc. 203 Second Ave., Frankfort and at 12:30 PM in Sts. Anthony and Joseph Church, S. Main St. Herkimer where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev Terence Healy and assisted by Deacon Michael Carbone. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, September 15 from 9:30 AM - 11:45 AM at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home Inc. 203 Second Ave., Frankfort. Her funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer, NY.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Maria's memory may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care 4277 Middle Settlement Road New Hartford, NY 13413. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
