Mrs. Marceline Torchia
Frankfort - Marceline Torchia, 89, of 105 Third Avenue passed away Monday, November 28, 2005 in St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
She was born on July 5, 1916, in Oriolo, Calabria, Italy, the daughter of the late James and Anna Bonamassa Accattato. Mrs. Torchia came to this country in 1926 and was educated in Frankfort schools. She was married to John N. Torchia on September 13, 1947 in St Mary´s Church, Frankfort. Mr. Torchia passed away on June 17, 1969.
Mrs. Torchia was employed as a seamstress for Gordon´s, Mohawk, until retirement in 1979. She also was employed at one time with Sterling Mills and Derbi's Sports Wear. Mrs. Torchia was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, member of International Ladies Garment Workers Union, member of the Columbianna Society and Former Past President of the St. Francis Di Paolo Society Auxillary for twenty five years.
Marceline is survived by her daughters & sons-in-law, Catherine & Bruce MacLain of Whitesboro and Anna & John Berney of Ilion; her sisters and brother-in-law, Gemma Tassino and Sara & Michael LiBritz, all of Frankfort; her grandchildren, James, Meghan, Merideth, Jaclyn, and Marci; six great granddaughters; special niece, Janet Spina; special nephew, James Francis Accattato; several nieces, nephews and in-laws. She was predeceased by her brothers, Nick, Frank and Dominick.
Her funeral will be held 8:30 am, Thursday, from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 9:15 am, Thursday, in Our Lady Queen Of Apostles Church where a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. John Yanas. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling Hours will be 4-7PM, Wednesday, at V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc.
