Ilion - Mr. Lyle C. Johnson, 76, of Kent Blvd. passed away Thursday, February 26, 2009 in Mohawk Valley Nursing Home.
Lyle was born in Middlefield, NY on May 27, 1932, the son of Floyd Sr. and Ella-May Camp Johnson. He attended Cooperstown schools. Lyle served with the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict and was Honorably Discharged on May 6, 1954. He was married to Sandra Crim on September 22, 1956 in St. Paul's Methodist Church, Elkhart, IN. Mr. Johnson was self-employed owning his own business, Johnson's Roofing & Siding of Ilion, until his retirement in 2007. He was a member of St. Francis Di Paolo Society and V.F.W Post #502.
Lyle is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Sandra Johnson; one son, Michael Johnson and his companion, Elaina Amendolare, of Frankfort; two sisters and one brother in law, Violet and her husband George Datena, of Elkhart, IN and Rose Johnson; one brother, Lynn and his wife, Jean Johnson of Fly Creek; two grandchildren, Riley and Andrew Johnson and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two sisters, Ella and Ruth, and one brother, Floyd.
His funeral will be held privately at the convenience of his family from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort.
