Mrs. Lucy De Gristina Fort Herkimer - Mrs. Lucy C. De Gristina, 95, of Rd 2 Box 120, Mohawk passed away peacefully Saturday, March 11, 2006 in Little Falls Hospital with her family by her side. She was born in Frankfort, on February 18, 1911, the daughter of the late Calogero and Providenza Caruso Nicastro and she attended schools there. She was married to Peter M. De Gristina on February 25, 1928 in St. Anthony´s Church, Herkimer. The couple had a blessed union of 67 years until Peter's passing on August 12, 1995. Mr. & Mrs. De Gristina began their family farm in Ft. Herkimer in 1928 and the farm is presently being operated by their children. She was a Communicant of Sts. Anthony And Joseph Church. Lucy was a beloved and cherished mother and grandmother and is survived by two sons & one daughter in law, Natale & Janice De Gristina of Ft. Herkimer and Carl De Gristina at home; three daughters & one son in law, Mayme & Sam Licari of Ft. Herkimer, Florence De Gristina and Lucille De Gristina at home; her grandchildren, Donna & her husband, Anthony Castellano, Sam Licari Jr, Peter & his wife, Sharon De Gristina, Lucy & her husband, Bill Mattice, Natalie & her husband, Bill Cole; her great grandchildren, Samantha & her husband, Aaron Manikas, Jesse Licari, Anthony De Gristina, Nicholas De Gristina, Tyler Cole and Susanna Cole; two sisters & one brother in law, Anna Carney of Frankfort and Clara & Leo Digristina of Schuyler and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one son, Natale De Gristina in 1929; two sisters, Mary Caruso and Rose Manino; two brothers, Cross Nicastro and Joseph Nicastro and her stepfather, James Di Maggio. Her funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 pm from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 3:30 in Sts. Anthony And Joseph Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery later this spring. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-8 at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi, & Burns Funeral Home. Contributions in Lucy's memory may be made to Alzheimer´s Association Mohawk Valley Chapter, 247 Elizabeth St, Utica, NY 13501. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
