Lorena D. Raker
Lorena D. Raker, 61, of Utica and formerly of Waterville, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2006 at her daughter's home with her family by her side.
Lorena was born on May 23, 1945, in Sayre, PA, the daughter of the late William and Marjorie Brown Pruyne. In 1962, she graduated from the S.R.U. Joint High School in East Smithfield, PA. She received a B.S. in Education from Mansfield University, Mansfield, PA and taught public school in Bloomsburg, PA. In 1973, marriage brought Lorena to Waterville, NY, where she owned a hobby ceramic shop, taught German at B.O.C.E.S., and pursued a very active painting career, sharing her love of watercolor with many students through adult education classes at Kirkland Art Center in Clinton, NY, Rome Art Community Center in Rome, NY and Elderlife in Utica, NY.
Lorena is survived by her husband, Jon B. Raker, her son and daughter-in-law, Blair and Joyce Raker; her daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Steve Morton; her brother, William Pruyne; her four sisters-in-law and their spouses, Sandra Hollenback, Ruth and Dean Woodard, Anita and Rick King, Susan and Don Weaver; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many wouderful friends, especially Gerda Mortelette, Carol and Reid Chamberlain, and Ralph Murray.
In keeping with Lorena's wishes, there will be no funeral or calling hours, Thank you to all who attended her "Celebration of Life" on May 21, 2006.

Her funeral arrangements have been entrusted to V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave, Frankfort.
