Lisa Grace Bawolak Hawkins

Herkimer - Ms. Lisa Grace Bawolak-Hawkins passed away into the arms of the angels on August 28, 2010. She was born in Herkimer on October 11, 1964, the daughter of the late Steve and Grace Wood Bawolak. She attended Mohawk schools, graduating with the class of 1982. She was at one time married to James Hawkins, the father of her children. After having her children, Lisa attended Herkimer Co. BOCES practical nursing program and graduated at the top of her class. Before illness overtook her, she was employed with Folts Home in Herkimer and Masonic Care Community Center of Utica. Lisa also found time to do private duty nursing. She loved flowers and had a knack for just throwing seeds on the dirt and growing the best flowers in the neighborhood. Lisa is survived by her loving children, Kailie Jo Hawkins and her companion Jake Trevor and their daughter Abbie Jo of Cedarville, Kyle Hawkins of Buffalo and Mercedes Colangelo of Rome; her step-mother, Doris Bawolak of Mohawk; four sisters and two brothers in law, Barbara and Ronald Lowell of Ilion, Bonnie and Brian Millar of Ilion, Linda Roemer of Herkimer, Stephanie Bawolak of Jordanville; three brothers and one sister in law, Mike Bawolak of Edmunds, WA, Steve and Danielle Bawolak of Mohawk and William Bawolak of Utica; her step brothers, Roger Snell of Mohawk and William Snell of Syracuse; her step sister, Betty Norton of Cherry Valley; her nieces and nephews, Amy Lowell and her companion, Cory Cool and her daughter, Madison Grace, Beky Lowell, Andrew Gahan and Jenn Gilbert, William Gahan, Annie Millar, Sophie Millar, CJ Roemer and son Eyota, Joe and Lisa Marriott and children Tyler and Kelsey, Laura and Chris Renshaw and their children, Maddie and Wyatt, Tyler Bawolak, Emily Bawolak, William Bawolak, Jr., Melissa Bawolak and Jenna Rose Bawolak. She was predeceased by her parents, her nephew Ronald Charles Lowell Jr., and her niece Rebecca Ann Roemer. Her funeral will be held Saturday at 2pm from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer and will be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Lawless. Interment will be in Cedarville Cemetery. Calling hours will be Saturday from 12-2 prior to her funeral service. By family request, please dress casual.
