West Winfield - Mrs. Lillian M. "Sophie" Loiacono, 87, of 531 Meeting House Rd. passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014 in the St. Luke's Home with her loving family by her side. She was born in Frankfort on November 23, 1926, the daughter of the late Charles and H. Edah Soper Farley. She attended Ilion schools and graduated from Ilion High School. Sophie was married to Henry C. Loiacono on April 14, 1945 in Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church in Frankfort. They shared a blessed union of 68 years until Henry's passing on September 29, 2013. Sophie was a very busy homemaker, raising five sons and helping her husband run a growing dairy farm. Both activities were near and dear to their hearts. She liked to cook, knit, sew and crochet. She enjoyed gardening and growing African Violets. She was very active in her Local Home Bureau group and in her later years, the local Senior Citizen's group. Sophie is survived by five sons and daughters in law, Joseph and Ellen Loiacono of Herkimer, Gary and Cathy Loiacono of Herkimer, Ronald and Marlene Loiacono of West Winfield, Steven and Madaline Loiacono of Fresno, CA and Paul and Regina Loiacono of Burlington Flats; sixteen beloved grandchildren and their spouses, Mary Elise and Mike Dedicke, Michael and Elizabeth Loiacono, Katherine Maxwell, Thomas and Lauren Loiacono, Patrick Loiacono, Gregory and Meeka Loiacono, Geoffrey and Kia Loiacono, Matthew Loiacono, Mark and Mackenzie Loiacono, Nicholas and Mary Loiacono, Benjamin Loiacono, Kimberly and Chance Dale, Danielle and Joel Carney, Aaron and Kimberly Loiacono, Maggie Loiacono and Paul David Loiacono; fifteen great-grandchildren, Alison Dedicke, Eric Dedicke, Maia Loiacono, Joshua Loiacono, Elijah Loiacono, Owen Loiacono, Emma Loiacono, Savannah Loiacono, Adrianna Loiacono, Juliana Parks, Greyson Loiacono, Regina Jane Carney, Mason Carney, Arron David Loiacono and Gianna Loiacono; and one sister, Dorothy Cioch of Herkimer. She was predeceased by three sisters, Marie Des Grosielliers, Evelyn Edgett and Edna Strong and one brother, Charles Farley. Her funeral will be held Friday evening at 7:00 in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort, with the Deacon James Bower, officiating. Calling hours will be Friday evening from 4 pm until the time of services. Interment will be in Cedarville Cemetery on Saturday morning at 9:00. Contributions in Sophie's memory may be made to West Winfield Fire Department, West Main HWY, West Winfield, NY 13491 or to the Cedarville Fire Department, 960 St. Rt. 51, Ilion NY 13357-3908. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. For their dedicated and compassionate care, the family is grateful to and wishes to thank; Dr. Ian Madom, Dr. Mark Blaker, Dr. Thomas John and Dr. Scott Brehaut; the nurses and staff of St. Luke's Hospital ER, CCU and third floor; the nurses and staff of Valley Health Services and the St. Luke's Home where she spent her final days.
