Lena E. Kipper

Frankfort - Lena E. Kipper, 94, of Frankfort, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018 in Mohawk Valley Health Care Center.

She was born in Ilion, New York on April 29, 1924, the daughter of the late Antonio and Antonina Prestigiacomo DiPiazza. She attended Frankfort schools and graduated from Frankfort High School with the class of 1943. She was married to Joseph Kipper on August 14, 1944 in St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. Joe passed away on May 25, 1995. Lena was the Librarian for Frankfort Library for over 30 years until her retirement in 1993. She was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church and a member of the Young at Heart Seniors, Red Hat Society, St. Francis Aux., Addolorata Society and the Friends of the Frankfort Library. She loved to crochet, read and play bingo.

Lena is survived by two daughters and one son in law, Jacklyn and Bruce Mendini of Albany and Andrea Morris of Marcy; one son, Anthony Kipper of Frankfort; one sister, Jane Ferrara of St. Charles, MO; her grandchildren, Miranda Kipper, Ellen and Michael Caldaro, Kathryn and Mario Arduini, David and Dr. Amanda Mendini and Cameron Morris; six great-grandchildren, Samantha Caldaro, Thomas Caldaro, Sophia Arduini, Elaina Arduini, Gianna Mendini and Evangeline Mendini and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son, Joseph Kipper on September 25, 2005; three sisters, Jennie Abbacchi, Frances Vivirito and her twin sister, Mary Hight and one brother, Bennie DiPiazza.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday morning, May 30, 2018 at 9:45 AM from the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Avenue Frankfort and at 10:30 AM in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Paul Catena. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday afternoon from 4:00- 7:00 PM at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Members of the Young at Heart will meet Tuesday at 4:15 and the Addolorata Society at 4:30 at the funeral home for services.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Lena's memory may be made to Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, 412 S. Frankfort St. Frankfort, NY 13340 or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
