Laura Jacobs

Frankfort - Laura Jacobs passed away on December 5, 2010 at home with her family by her side. She was born November 10, 1962 in Ilion and attended school in Frankfort. Laurie held a variety of jobs during her short lifetime. She was always an enthusiastic supporter of whatever sport her children were involved in. At times she was known to have been a bit too enthusiastic. A lot of people will remember Laurie for her laugh and her ability to make others laugh with her sarcasm and her unique way of telling a story. Her family and close friends will remember her for successfully working hard to change the circumstances of her life. Laurie was very proud of the fact that this past March she walked 5 miles in American Great Heart Run & Walk in memory of her brother, Jim. Laura's survivors include her mother and stepfather, Peggy and Otto Thuener of Frankfort; her children, all of whom she was so proud of, SPC. Rebecca Bowen and her husband Dwayne of Fort Hood, TX, Staff Sgt. Michael Penree and his wife Dominic of Fort Drum, NY and SPC. Ryan Penree and his companion Jessie Grower of Mohawk; her sisters, Sandy Cambridge and her companion, Caryl Temple of Little Falls, Cindy and her husband, Dennis Dupont of Chattanooga, TN; her brother by choice, David Briggs and his wife Maryann of Frankfort; her granddaughters who were two of her greatest joys, Asyah Bowen and Yana Zoe Penree; several aunts and uncles; her special aunt, Pat Fortuner who had many adventures with Laurie; many nieces and nephews; and her great nephew, Damion Fassett who helped fill a void in her life when Asyah had to move away. Laurie was fortunate to have several close friends including her former husband, Michael Penree of Mohawk, who was extremely helpful to Laurie during her illness. Laurie valued his friendship. She also leaves her good friend and dice playing partner, George Frank, Jeanine Darline who were her family, can't thank enough for all the help and support she gave to Laurie, Katie Doolan, Kyle Waldo, who she loved like a son, and Chad. Laurie was predeceased by her brother and friend, James "Jake" Jacobs. It gives her family great comfort knowing that Laurie is with Jim and that they are both pain-free. Her Funeral will be held Friday evening at 6 pm in the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc 203 Second Ave, Frankfort with the Rev. Robert Wollaber officiating. Calling hours will be Friday afternoon from 3 to 6 pm at the V.J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on Laurie's online memorial page by going to www.iocovozzifuneralhomes.com Laurie's family would like to extend a special expression of gratitude to Dr. Amy Grace and Gigi who helped Laurie more than they will ever know.
