Frankfort-Karen Freedman, 84, passed away on July 5, 2026, in Herkimer.
Karen Freedman was born on November 9, 1941 in Utica, NY, to Francis E. and Anita B. Davison Parkhurst. Karen attended Utica schools and graduated from UFA with the class of 1959. She started her career as a Head Examiner for OCDSS for many years and retired 2001. Karen was married to Edward Freedman on April 20, 1985 in Ilion. Ed passed away on August 30, 2021. She attended Newport United Methodist Church and was a member of Stratford Senior Citizens.
Karen is survived by her daughter and son in law, Rev. Zondra and Rev. Scott Coffin of Frankfort, one sister, Hope Blencowe of Durhamville; , her grandchildren, Jacob and his wife, Jill Coffin and Joshua Shuemaker, Chad Coffin and Joseph Coffin and his companion, Erika Coffin; fifteen great grandchildren, Izayah, Dakota, Aaliyah, Isaiah, Josiah, Jaxson, Rylan, Makayla, Scott, Victoria, Caleb, Kylie, Luke, Annalynne and Malcom and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Karen is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Freedman, her grandson, Eric, her siblings, Ronald and Virginia Parkhurst, Joan and Richard Raymond, Neil and Eleanor Parkhurst and Brother in law, Ralph Blencowe.
Her funeral will be held Thursday evening 6:00 in the V.J.Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave., Frankfort. Interment will be in Mt Olivet Cemetery at the convenience the family. Calling hours will be Thursday 4-6 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc.
