Mrs. Josephine Rose Losito
Herkimer - Mrs. Josephine Rose Losito, 88, of 3 Jacqueline Ct. Utica, formerly of Herkimer, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2016 in St. Elizabeth's Medical Center with her family by her side.
She was born in Herkimer on March 28, 1928, the daughter of the late Gaetano and Felicia Fiorentino Volpicello. She attended and graduated from Herkimer High School with the class of 1946. She was married to Rocco Losito on October 9, 1948 in St. Anthony's Church by the Rev. Gustave Purficato. Rocco passed away on May 14, 2013. Josephine was employed with the Library Bureau, Sperry Univac, Village of Herkimer and was Secretary to the High School Principal at Mohawk Central School where she retired from. She enjoyed traveling, golfing, going out for dinner, riding in the car and walking.
Josephine is survived by two sons and daughters in law, Rocco and Karen Losito of Salem, OH and David and Mary Beth Losito of Cicero; one daughter and son in law, Lu Ann Losito and Ed Bucciero of Utica; eleven grandchildren, Rocco Losito III and his wife, Catherine, David Losito and his wife, Kate, Michael Losito, Joseph Losito, Mary Losito and her fiancé Jesse, Rachel Losito, Meghan Kennedy, Jaime and her husband, Stewart Mahler, Heather Kennedy and her fiancée, Jeff, Kristyn Bucciero and her fiancée, Pat and Lauren Bucciero; great-grandchildren, Eli, Asa, Caden, Theo and Azelee; one sister, Rose Maiola of Herkimer; her in laws, Vito and Mary Losito of Herkimer and Richard Carbone of Herkimer and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her great-grandson, Avi; four sisters and two brothers in law, Louise Volpicello, Corsignano Lena Volpicello, Marie and her husband, John Fallon, Anna Volpicello and Sam Maiola; her daughter in law, Theresa Losito and her nephew, Jack Fallon.
Her funeral will be held Saturday morning at 8:30 from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St. Herkimer and at 9:00 in Sts. Anthony & Joseph Church, 229 S. Main St. Herkimer where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Rev. Quy Vo. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, November 11 from 4-7 PM in the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home.
Josephine's family would like to express their sincere appreciation to her special friends, Karen Slocum, Sue Hurd, Samantha Hall, Joanie Gorton, Dr. Fred Talerico, Pat Rosato and the staff of St. Elizabeth's Medical Center for the wonderful care and compassion shown to her during her illness and passing.
