New Hartford - Mr. Joseph A. Enea, 103, of 4 Stratford Dr. Clinton passed away Monday, February 11, 2008 in West Chester, PA at the Neighborhood Hospice.
He was born in Utica on November 13, 1904, the son of the late Philip and Agatha Oddo Enea. As a child he and his family moved to Bagheria, Sicily and he attended schools there. He returned to America in 1921. Joseph married Josephine Conigliaro on June 5, 1937 in St. Mary's Church, Frankfort. Mr. & Mrs. Enea were the owners and operators of The Mohawk Fish & Poultry Market, Mohawk Street, Utica and Mohawk Coffee Co. They later were the owners and operators of Piggly Wiggly Drive Inn, Restaurant and Miniature Golf and Driving Range on Seneca Turnpike for many years. He was a Communicant of Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church, Frankfort & St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Utica.
Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Josephine; his children, Philip & his wife, Lena Enea of Phoenix, AZ, Agatha Cittadino of Deerfield and Paul Enea of West Chester, PA.; two sisters, Rose Costanzo of Milan, Italy, and Grace Enea of Bagheria, Sicily; one brother in law, Paul Conigliaro of Rochester; one sister in law, Mary Conigularo of Schuyler; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
His funeral will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 am from the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc., 203 Second Ave. Frankfort and at 10:00 am in Our Lady Queen of Apostles Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. John Yanas. Spring interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Friday from 5-8 at the V. J. Iocovozzi Funeral Home, Inc.
